Locaboat Holidays will be adding another 10 new Penichette Evolution 950 E to their fleet. This popular boat has a modular interior made up of 2 spacious saloons that convert into 2 double cabins at night, as well as lots of storage space and three outside deck areas: forward and aft terrace decks and flying bridge with external helming position.
Locaboat are opening a new base in Holland: Alphen aan den Rijn. Located near Gouda, Alphen is the ideal Location to cruise in the Western part of the region, towards the Keukenhof Park and Gouda. This base as well as the Loosdrecht base offer opportunities to pass through Amsterdam.
In Ireland Locaboat are moving their current base in Bellanaleck to Banagher.
Banagher is the ideal base to explore the lower Shannon and Lough Derg, the largest lake on the waterway system. The base at Carrick-on-Shanon remains open, an ideal base to explore Ireland’s longest river the River Shanon.
Le Boat News
The top of the range “ Premier” boats, the Horizon fleet, have been very popular this last season. Their clever design has kept them low and narrow enough to access all the waterways on which Le Boat operate, yet inside the high ceilings, roomy showers, spacious saloons and large windows make them light and airy. The deck is spacious with a built in table and seating for outside dining.
Boating in Canada is on the spectacular Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World heritage site is beginning to take off. Le Boat opened their first base in Smith Falls, Ontario in 2018 and a second base in Seeley’s Bay in 2019.
Alternative Travel Group, who offer independent walking and cycling routes in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary and Scotland, have introduced a new route “Paths to Peneda” in Northern Portugal in the Minjo region. The walk leads you along ancient paths through granite villages, past megalithic monuments, vineyards, cascading rivers and thermal springs.
Included in your price are walking and cycling itineraries, carefully chosen accommodation standard or superior, breakfasts and some dinners, a local ATG route manager who will brief you and be contactable at anytime as well as move your luggage from hotel to hotel. You will also be provided with comprehensive route booklets with clear instructions, maps and practical information. Bicycle hire for those on cycling trips.
European Waterways offer hotel barges in Belgium, France, Holland, Italy, England, Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany and Luxembourg. They offer themed cruises such as Golf Cruises, Wine Appreciation Cruises, Culinary Cruises, Art Cruises and more. Boats have the capacity to accommodate from 6 to 20 passengers, private charters can be arranged. La Bateliere also represents some smaller independently run hotel barges.
